Seat Cover Suggestions
I`m having a real problem getting a set of seat covers that actually fit.
Referring to pull on / over covers here, not like the seat upholstery. I simply want to protect the fabric on my nicely re-upholstered 924 front seats. Believe they are the same as early 944s and similar vintage 911s, a tapered and quite narrow high back bucket seat. Problem is, all the modern covers, particularly those that are "suitable for airbags" are far too big & baggy. They look like crap all creased up and doubled over. Maybe, I am hoping, it is just an issue limited to the piss poor range available in Australia. Been to all the FLAPS in 3 states and nothing fits properly and tightly. Does anyone have any suggestions for something that they have tried & use that I can buy online and ship here? Not overly concerned about what the material is but must be available in a bright (guards) red or red & black color.

i've seen this one go south way too often
contrary to popular belief, seat covers do not protect the fabric, and in most cases cause its demise. basically the dirt and stuff gets under the seat cover and acts like sandpaper. unless you plan to get in there every week, pull off the seat cover, clean everything out, clean the seat covers, and clean the seats, you are better off leaving it uncovered. if it's the sun you are worried about, then take a towel, sew a loop to one end to go around the headrest, and just lay it on there when you are not in the car. |

Not affiliated with this vendor but product quality and fit/finish is very good.
I believe a few other members have used them. You'll have to contact them to see if they ship international. http://www.iggee.com/ |

I've a a set of the Iggee seat covers in simulated leather. They are very tight fitting, and nothing gets under or through them except during installation. I've had them for 6 years now and they still look great.

I do appreciate the logic of your post Flash968, and don`t have covers on the leather or fabric in my other cars.
A well as run around the suburbs, I also go on some rather long road trips (up to 5000 miles) across some of the most barren, dusty and hot country in Australia. Because there is a blower where the A/C compressor usually mounts, I often need to leave the window down to keep cool. The car does collect a lot of dust even driving on sealed roads and heaps gets shaken out from the seat covers before I wash them, usually monthly. I really wouldn`t want all that dirt impregnated into my seats. Then there is also the occasional drop of pizza sauce or Mc mayo that inevitably falls when eating in the car, as I sometimes do. Also on hot summer days the temperature reaches over 40*C (>100*F) and at times I sweat, more so when in slow moving city traffic. Although I have marine grade fabric (UV & water resistant), I feel sure that it would dirty & stain far quicker without a covering. In fact the upholstery is 5-6 years old and still looks like new, since except for special occasions they have been kept covered. Thanks for the recommendation Pauld_94S2 & Pops944. I read about and have seen pictures of the Iggee seat covers in another thread. They fit so well I initially thought they were the actual seat upholstery. Its great to get positive feedback from someone who has used them for 6 years, thanks. Sure that is the way I`ll go, but my only concern is what the vinyl is like in the heat on the hottest sunny USA day. Could anyone, from Texas perhaps, give some input there? Or has anyone tried their fabric covers? Checked out their website and although they are pretty pricy shipped to Oz ($90) do really like their design and colors. Their red ones are an excellent match to what I have. Iggee ![]() Mine

ok - if it gets that hot where you are, forget all about vinyl. you will regret that in a hurry. being a convertible driver, i can't count the number of times i've either scalded myself, left skin on the hot seats, or sweated so bad i slid around. vinyl sucks. at least leather breathes.
that puts you back into fabric, which by the nature of breathing, will let dirt back through it, and since your windows are open a lot, will be very problematic. i would just heavily scotchguard the fabric and use a towel when it is in the sun. |

I have a set of iggy covers in my 944. They were there when I bought the car and they are great. Ill post some pics when I get to my other comp. They fit really nicely and match the color almost perfectly. To be honest I have never even taken them off to see whats under them.
Regards Dave
