968 another mystery wire

In the midst of third radio install in my 968 cab. #1 was stock Blaupunkt, #2 PO installed a Clarion, and now my Panasonic. Wiring is a mess under the console. All previous wiring still in place but just patched and bunched together. Even found a small Pioneer amp tucked under drivers side carpet. Twin stock amps under the seats for the 10 speaker option. Can't ID the wire and light connector in the pic. It ran along the left side of the shifter under the console to the area of the ashtray and was clipped on. Anyone know what this small light fixture was and what its function was? Thanks, Charlie

it is the light for the ashtray that clips to the console.

Thanks guys. Where does this thing clip on? Is the light on all the time or is it triggered by a switch somewhere? Nothing says German than a lighted ashtray!!

There should be a spot for it in the console, just in front of the ashtray (or maybe behind). It should shine through a small window into the ashtray. I believe it should be on with the dash lights.
