This is fun to read. All I know is that I can jump in the 944 and just drive as hard as I want and it feels fun. I'm not too worried about flat out hp and speed. The 1983 NA 944 has enough for me right now. I'm just having fun and not trying to kill myself or others. There are some "quiet" stretches of highway around where I've pushed the car up to 100 mph and it felt great. Not pushed past that point yet. I have pushed it in and out of turns with great big smile on my face up in the mountains. It is just pure fun.

I have to agree with you about the fun factor of a 944 ... i raced mine this season and last May was the first time i ever drove a 944 and it was during a race !
That car is so forgiving as compared to my well sorted 911 DE car,it's crazy ! OK,282 hp from a 911 turbo makes sense ![]() Cheers Phil

Not sure why I'm responding, topic has been coverd well and I should be looking for my current hard start issue but, I have both, and have also had both na and turbo versions.
Right now I have a na 86 944 with automatic which I bought to flip and my step son wouldn't let me let it go. Great little car for a high school kid. It's a blast to drive smoothly and effortlessly. But the 951 does it as easily and very quickly. Loved that car. Fast cars very capable. The 911, well it's a beautiful car. I've had a few. A 72t, a 79sc and now a 77 911s, my current never sell wicked monster car. Comparing the 77 and 79 to the 944 na is hard to do. The 944 isn't very quick but the 911 feels quicker. Fun to drive but scary at times too. The 944 is unflappable where the 911 is just waiting for you to step wrong. It's not so forgiving but it's really not that bad. They're pretty good track style machines. But then I turned the 77 into a 930 clone outlaw monster. Not the fastest 930 out there but it's a very fast car with the right upgrades. A real wow car. And it will kill you faster than you can spit. But it looks soooo cool. They're all pretty great. I'll sell the 944 and get another one. I can't afford to sell the 930. I'll never be able to afford another one like it. Last edited by quattrorunner; 02-03-2015 at 10:08 PM.. |
