I think you'll find quite a few people here who also have BMW's. I have a '94 325i here's a few pics.

There's a great BBS for E36's here's the link.

http://forums.roadfly.com/e36/messages/

the web format is not as good as this one, but it seems more active.

I don't know too many performance sites, I'm keeping mine stock. I've decided not to play with it. (except for some 17" M3 wheels i want to buy) I use it as a daily driver, and to travel for work. Except, of course, when it's nice out then it's all 944.

I am seriously thinking about buying an e36. I love the brand new ones too. They look really good in my opinion.

I just sold my 1995 325i - best car I have ever had. I am sorry I sold it now.

Blackfoot 08-23-2001 08:55 PM

of the 35+ cars i've owned, the my '92 e36 is tied with my 951 as favorite so far. i miss it much, but kept it in the family--my bro is the new proud owner.

I think that the 325 series could be the best car BMW ever did.

I think the E36 cars are THE ones to have. E46 cars borrow a little too much DNA from the Honda Accord gene pool, plus they've lost the really nice self-centering effect of the earlier cars' steering. I like how the E36 M3's tires seem to just bust out of the bodywork...they've got a great stance.

the e46 has been praised from many sources as better chassis, and allows for better handling. it's kinda like the upgrade from 993 to 996.

EGS-
i wanted a 4-door, 5-speed. That was nearly impossible fo find. It seems like everyone who bought a 4-door wussied out, and took the auto. It took 3 months of looking before i found a good one. it sounds like you got a deal. I paid 13,500 for mine with 85K on it. I did buy it from a dealer though.

Hi Blackfoot,
I acknowledge you preference, but sometimes "better" handling can be less involving to the driver, and therefore less satisfying. E46 is a fine machine, but it is a bit bulkier and I really prefer the steering of the earlier cars. I just think the E36 has more of an edge and a more distinct personality, whereas the E46 is something of a downsized 5-Series clone--a move on BMW's part toward the mainstream. Also, E46 is almost too quiet...part of what I like is hearing a bit more of that inline-6 rasp.
How 'bout that new 7 Series? Too bad about the trunk from a Dodge Stratus!

i'm looking for a car for school and i'm thinking about an e36 bimmer. I like the look of the 325is more, but a 4-door would be nice. I've worked at bimmer dealerships for a while so i'm pretty familiar with all the models. I've always liked the e36 and I hope to get one in a year or so. I also like the e46 though, the 323, 325, and 328, are very nice, but they are a bit quiet for my taste, but the 330 has a great rumble, i'd love a 330xi, but i agree the e36 looks sportier, except for the new m3, 330hp, and it looks mean!

Hey, just a side note, I thought Z3's were supposed to be fairly fast. I Just raced a Z3 in my 325 and won. Normally i don't advocate street racing, but she was cute, and wanted to race.

i would guess it was a z3 1.9 with a 1.9 liter 4 cylinder. the 2.3, 2.8, and especially the 3.0 are fast. And the new M-Roadster has 315hp, and wow is it fast
