There's some info on rennlist and pelican forums about stripping and polishing the entire wheels, then applying clearcoat. One guy bought a metal polishing kit at Lowes/Home Depot for his variable speed electric drill and his wheels looked really good. I just saw another post about using oven cleaner to remove the clearcoat instead of aircraft/aluminum stripper.

I've got them saved on my computer at home if you need them.

If you want to just polish the "lips"try a compound by Mothers. That May work, it's not harmful (chemically) to lacquer or similar photochemically sensitive finishes. It's smooth enough that you won't poilsh the fished area right off of the wheel. Chemically Stripping the wheels does work, but it's messy and it sucks. have them media blasted very carefully, or you may etch the aluminum. Then you can polish the wheels in various ways( steps) but the trick to having an unfinished wheel is to maintain it. they have to stay polished( sealed) or they will discolour, especially the front wheels because of brake dust. So, your gonna be polishing them alot. An alternative may be purchasing new wheels from an aftermarket company. I hope this has helped you, good luck.

A neighbor of mine just had his corvette wheels powdercoated chrome & silver.

I was skeptical when he told me about it, but I have to say that it looks damn good - certainly much easier than polishing the wheels every week.

Think he paid $75 per wheel
