Build thread - Picked up a couple 944's

Hi Folks. New to 944's, but I've owned a '74 911 (930 replica) for a while:

Picked up a pair of 944's on the weekend with a friend for a fun project, plan is to auto cross it, and ice race in winter. Figured I'd start a build thread here on pelican.

Red car (1986) has a good solid body, and the interior is in good condition. Currently has motor problems (leaking head gasket)

Silver car (1983) has the motor pulled, and the transmission is stuck in gear. interior is trashed, and the clear coat is peeling.

So the silver car is your donor car then? What are your plans? Did the 83 come with the motor?

Correct, the silver car (83) is the donor/parts car. Motor came with it, but was already removed.

Plans are ot get the red car back into operable condition, then do track prep.

Cool! Did the 83 come with the 83 motor, or just a 944 motor? Manual rack? Looks like a fun project.

Swap the 83 manual rack into the 86, intermediate shaft also has to move over. You won't regret it.
