Buying opinions
OK, we all know I am looking for a new 944...I have decided on a 951 (sorry all of you S2 owners). I am in no hurry, but as you all have probably felt, i want one NOW! Ok, I have to sell my cars first...but we don't talk about that, Hehe. A while ago I found a very nice 951 here on PelicanParts, but it was out of my price range. Here is his original post...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=82943 So it sounded like a perfect example of a 951. Well recently he emailed me telling me this... Apparently someone testdrove it and broke it?!? It now knocks and has very low oil pressure...unsuitable for driving. It just had alot of major things done to it like mounts and belts. He has lowered the price down to 5.5K. This still seems high to me for something that can't be ran. I was planning on rebuilding a 944 engine on the side for the fun of it, so i figure why not rebuild this engine? I would do all the work myself, except for any machining of course, and for that price could keep my 83 944 around till this one is drivable. on peliparts all the bearings, rings, and gaskets alone are like 600, which doesn't seem that bad. The problem is probably worse that bearings though, right? What could cause this? This guy seemed to know what he was doing...I think...so i would assume that before he took 5 grand off the price he would have it inspected, but that is my assumption. If he isn't telling me what exactly is wrong, should I assume that it is BAD? It DOES run, so valves check out. No head rebuilding. How much should I offer him? I live in cali, and he is in colorado, so he says he would help pay shipping. I think i am jumping the gun here, and pouncing on the first car i see. What are your guys' opinions? It sounds to me like a perfect car otherwise, but what do i know. Please feel free to slap some sense into me and make me wait. Or on the otherhand...give me the greenlight. I am a confused little boy and need some guidance. About the engine rebuilding...I am very knowledgeable when it comes to engines...and think i could tackle the challenge. I have rebuilt several VW engines...even souped them up...so i understand the procedures and basic ideas. With you guys here and a manual or ten there, i am pretty confident that i could do this. Ok...lemme have it...i am ready for the slapping.

On second thought...SLAP!...I am not quite sure I want it anymore. hehe...yea it is only an hour later. I have read VPRKLR's other posts, and they don't make the car sound as nice as he is doing. For one he said he bought it for pretty cheap...like 6 or 7 i think, and I believe he had the front left hit. THAT is why he painted it!!! ding ding! Also he had boost problems, and low oil pressure problems for what seems like a while. SLAP SLAP SLAP Ouch...my face hurts...I believe he made his car sound nicer than it is. Please give me your feedback...and your slaps. I AM still looking for a 951 I guess. I NEED black or Gray though...hehe...no white or guards red. icky. Sorry white and guards red owners...especially you carter...seems i am not a fan of any of your colors. nothing personal, i promise.

*eyes smacking glove box* Before I break this out, let me say that there are a plethora of other 951's out there. Check Ebay, they have a few, and some very nice ones, and a couple are in california. Check the "Recycler" if you get it up there, or the want ads in your local paper, that's where I got mine. Several sites have a few, and this board has a "wanted to sell or buy" section. Carter, or Scott R, I forget which, has one that I'd really like to have for $9g.
I FULLY understand you wanting one right this instant, but you should really take your time and get a good one, cuz a bad one can, as you well know, be a freakin money pit!
