tach not working
 

help tach is not workin at all now before it worked once in second gear and about sometimes even in first its an 84 944 and dont really want to take the dash off could it be a dirty sending unit? help i dont know to much about these cars:confused:

Early dash tachs just die, you probably need another one.
Try the "tap the dash" and see if it comes alive again.
Get one from the local Porsche wrecking yard.

I have an early 85, and my tach worked onloy sometimes, and was really wierd, I left it for a while but got really tired of my occasional tach, so I bought a used one for 8$ because it was easy to replace, and it fixed my problem, best 8$ I ever spent. My tach now works perfectly
