Why is the O<sub>2</sub> sensor wire a co-ax? Is the other wire a ground? What type of connection is that?

Ok, suppose the connector got..."broken", could I just wire the O<sub>2</sub> sensor directly and then ground the other (outer) wire to the frame?

Can I have an "Oh *****!" please?

For the life of me, I can't remember if the lambda is on the engine or DME harness. Think it is on the DME.
