clutch job
Doing a clutch job on my 924s. I'm at the point of sliding the torque tube back to get to the bell housing. I have it back about 2 inches and its very hard to move. I realized I didn't unbolt the 2 bolts holding the shift lever inside the car. Would this be causing it to be hard to slide. Or is it possible to slide the torque tube back with the Shifter still bolted to the top?

de-couple input shaft, remove shifter in console and at Transaxle end the shift rod. Remove CV'S at each side of Transaxle and suspend them with wire or lightweight rope. Remove Transaxle. As you slide torque -tube back, it must be rotated so the safety ears will clear the rear X mrmbdr.

Does your S have any oil leaks? If you're committed to the car, the best move is to pull the motor for the clutch job and reseal it. You can throw in new rod bearings as well.

Yes
remove linkage, remove shift lever, 180 the torque tube and push back all the way.
