Question Cleaning Pistons

I want to clean the tops of my pistons off before I put my head back on. Is it o.k. to spray a little degreaser on the top of the piston to help break up some of the carbon, or is that a bad idea? If not degreaser, is there something else I can use that won't harm my pistons?

When I rebuild my engine I put some degreaser on the pistons and scraped them a bit with a metal brush. It cleaned them pretty well. Dont think it has cause any problems.
