Help! Motor Mounts

So, I've read what a pain these are to replace, and I can testify! I'm at the point of trying to get the motor mounts out, and I just don't have enough room. I'll try a pry bar, but if I'm having this much trouble getting them out, I can only imagine the issues I'll have getting them in.

Is there any reason I couldn't take the bolts from the one side of the cross member right out and support it with a jack stand to give me more room?

I have a stabilizer bar across my engine, so I can't jack the engine up any further and I really don't want to remove that.

Thoughts/tricks/tips?

Thanks in advance

Jordan

If the engine is hanging from above (or otherwise supported) there's no reason not to remove the crossmember.

Even better if you disconnect the steering shaft from the rack, this will give you the most wiggle room...

Watch the sensors if you lift the motor much.

Mounts kinda twist into place. If you look at the new mounts, there is a small boss in the stamping that fits into the crossmember. Oem mounts can be squeezed into place but I pretty much had to stand on the cortecos to get them to submit.

These cars can be anti-shortcut. I would mark your settings and drop the crossmember

Doing the same thing , but I have the engine hoist that sits in the fender channels to support the engine from above. The problem is my motor mount top 13mm bolts are just not giving up the ghost. 2 days of liberally spraying PB Blaster and those little ****s don't want out.

I have used my 13mm flex head wrench, 1/4" stubby flex ratchet with a u-joint and they just don't want to crack. I have taken 944's apart but omg I am about to take my cutoff blades and slice the stupid motor mount off.

My next thought is to just grab some extensions and do it from above(at least on the driver/turbo side), or scribe and drop the x-member, then go to town on the mounts.
