Wiper Motor?

The wipers on my 86 944 just recently stopped working. At first they ony worked on the two fastest settings. Now they don't seem to work at all. Think this is a wiper motor?

The quickest way to rule out an electric motor is to make a jumper direct to the battery. I made one with an on/off toggle switch that I can hook to the battery and motor, then trun on to test the motor. I think it's more likely the switch.

when my wiper motor quit, I looked at the prices of a new wiper, and immediately began to tear my old motor apart, clean all the dirty things and greased all the clean things. Got another year out of it before I bought a used one at a J.Y. for $75.

Yo, does your wipers shimmy or like skip across the windshield when running. My wipers kinda skip or pulse it's way across the windshield making this annoying wiper noise. Can I shut it the hell up?

If it's just wiper chatter, you might just need new blades. Once the rubber gets about a year old, it needs to be replaced, especially if the car is driven in cold weather. Personally, I like BOSCH blades the best, they seem to last a little longer than other brands. If the blades are new and they still chatter, then it's possible that the pressure springs on the wiper arms are weak, or you could try using Rain-X (or an equivalent) on the windshield to make the glass "smoother" and easier for the wiper to slide across.

Argh, I tried using all kinds of blades and they still chatter. Might be the springs seeing that I already have rain-x on my windshield. Thanks.

My wipers sound like they're dying a slow and painful death whenever I'm using them. I just turn the radio louder. But then the radio shorts out and i have to fiddle with it to get it working again... such is the joy and rapture of driving a 944

Hey, at least I know that if I wanted to get it repaired it won't cost me my life fortune... I'm looking at you, 928...
