Location of all grounds

anyone with a diagram of an 87 na's ground locations. the haynes manual has a diagram, but it says it is of an 85 or older model. I really need to find the ground for the fuel guage and the tachometer since they are not working.

I believe these are the ground points

Does your MPG just peg over to the other side on start up? And does you tach not even move? If so, I have the same problem and would love to hear how you get it fixed.

thanks overkill for the diagram...very explicit...just what i need.
gcjustin...no my guages act normally on startup but the tach and ground don't move...the fuel guage does move every now and then and i am leaning toward the probability that the sending unit is stuck in the tank.

clark's has a good doc for cleaning up the fuel sender. Search for:

The ground for the inst. cluser is under the dash, drivers side, almost directly behind the headlight switch, it is flat against the top (underside) of the cowl. Stick your head under the dash and look straight up. While your under there, in the same area towards the front of the car (firewall) there is another group of grounds, clean those as well. There is one more ground in the rear hatch, pull up the carpet and look below the drivers side taillight, you will see another ground, that is a very important ground, anything that doesnt ground through those dash grounds in the interior, grounds at this point, power windows, fuel pump, lights, etc.

That sounds good, thank you. I don't have to pull the dash/cluster apart then? That would be nice. =) Thank you for the detailed description. My temp gauge isn't registering. When I bought it from the PO, he said it 'comes and goes', so I assume the sender and wires are fine, and it's a ground, because when idle, if I put the ebrake on, it jumps up almost 1/4 (from 0 to almost 1/4). =)

Did you ever take the pictures of the grounds? I am interested in getting some of the grounds for the DME that attach to the engine block and bell housing. Just need to make sure everyhting is back together right. The attached is form Clarks showing the reference/speed sensor and is the general area, but in these pictures the ground is not connected! Also need to show up a little higher where the battery ground attahces. I think there are four ground points altogheter in this general area. Can anyone shoot me one where the grounds are connected?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203860665.jpg

Wouldn't mind those pics too. Going to make an Ultimate Grounds thread soon (with pics!)
