Window blowing fuses

'87 924S has all the sudden started blowing fuses as soon as the engine starts. It is fuse #8, window fuse. I am unable to locate the ground point inside the cabin to see if there is a problem there. There are no issues with the window mechanism wiring. What could be the cause? Thanks!

You need to check the wiring that runs through the rubber boot between the body and the door itself between the hinges. I bet one of the wires is broken from years of flexing from opening and closing the doors. Start with the driver's side because it is used most. Just pull back the rubber and inspect the wires.

I had sort of the same thing happen on the trunk of my Audi 5000 once. Every time I put it in reverse, it would blow the instrument panel lights fuse. I got to looking and they are on the same circuit. I got to looking at the wiring that ran long the hinge in the trunk. Sure enough, the wires were cracked and exposed. They were grounding out when the trunk was closed. So when the reverse lights were energized it killed the fuse..
