Lucky guy
well Im having great luck with this car..
picked up my 85b 944 from the shop yesterday and drove it home ![]() drove amazingly! Drove it to work and drove out to west knoxville that morning as i am the carbuyer for Pullapart in knoxville.. parked at the car lot and noticed my temp guage creep up a tad bit. and this smart guy decided to see if my fan would kick on at the 3/4 mark.. creeped all the way to a hair away from the 3/4 mark and POP! the temp fluttered up once and dropped...NO steam no crazy idle, just nothing.. opened my door and noticed a huge puddle of coolant everywhere, popped my hood(engine off) and noticed a steady stream coming from above my timing belt cover and under the WP.. not from the hose or anything.. im guessing the water pump went out?(less then 15k miles) maybe just the gasket?? would it be better just to replace everything, as in timing belt/balance belt, water pump thermostat, hoses? also are they any cooling system flushes that are safe for the 944? Im having the best of luck with this car.. |

Sounds like time to replace the WP and as always with these cars, take advantage of "while you're In There" to do the belts, Rollers (if they continue to run when spun by hand). Belts should be changed about 30 to 40 thousand miles and/or 4 to 5 years. WP every other set of belts.

Yep. Waterpump is leaking. If you can't tell where it's coming from, it's probably the pulley shaft.... Where did you get the pump? Take it off and throw it at'em.

see if you can tell if it is the gasket or the shaft seal. pull the upper cover and hook up a pressure tester. a bad shaft seal will sling coolant inside the pulley.
don't rule out the exchanger housing. running a pressure test is the easiest way to tell. |
