bumpy when driving, shakes alot

i jacked up my car and wiggled the wheel back and forth and there is barely any play in it. I figured it was worn tierods. When i go over bumps, it makes my car shake alot, and my steering wheel shake and sometimes turn. Also while driving along and i go over even small bumps and dips i can feel on my feet and hear kind of a clunking sounds, everytime i hit dips or my suspension "does" work, it clicks or clunks... My shocks seem stiff, maybe to stiff, im not sure what brand they are, maybe i just need some properly working new shocks, im not sure, any help appreciated, thanks

You have to stay off the back packing trails!!

Scares the crap out of the tourists!!!

Yes, it's most likely all of the front suspension goodies; ball joints, tie rods, shocks, a-arm bushings and top strut bearings. Also the steering link. That's the u-joint shaft between the steering column and the steering rack. Don't forget the sway bar bushings too.

Seen a web site where you can get nylon replacement bushings for the aluminum front arms for $75 a set.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Could be a warped wheel. When wheels aren't perfectly round anymore, you will get shakes at certain speeds.

Does anybody make a kit to rebuild or replace the little u-joint in the steering shaft?

Mine went because brake fluid leaked on it dissolving the grease in the steering u-joint (previous owner). Bought a used one from PartsHeaven for $25. P dealer wanted 225 bucks for a new one.
