parts help - evap system
As part of a larger troubleshooting of the evaporative emissions system and the fuel tank, I'm looking at these easy-to-see-and-touch parts, on the diagram from the PET - my car is '87 NA:
058 131 851 A thermo valve - only for S and Turbo? directly from the part in-hand: 035 133 517 vacuum valve - not in PET? EDIT:my error! A little scrubbing reveals, like in a swashbuckling archaeology movie, the number : 944-110-429-00 ... going to look this up ... that is, the PET lists the thermo valve as only for the S and Turbo. What is the true part number? there is none on the one I have, and Google or Pelican searches show a Febi or other brand part that is similar but not exact. for instance...?: Pelican Parts - European Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche • BMW • Mercedes • Volkswagen • Audi • Saab • Volvo • MINI ... oh heck, here's the pics from my car: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1475077574.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1475077590.jpg |
hi!
The price of a 944-110-429-00 is about $insane.nuts! anybody know of an ... I think the word is aftermarket ... supplier? |
If there's vacuum at the metal valve but not the plastic valve after running a few minutes, will it open when it's warmer?
|
Those two valves work together and don't open until the engine is warm enough to send a signal from the temp sensor at the back of the head, which has a vacuum port that opens and sends vacuum to the valve. That vacuum pulls the gas tank fumes, which have been stored in the charcoal canister, into the intake manifold. I have those parts and about 10 million more....:)
