Ignition switch short (late model)

The wiring in my ignition switch has shorted out. The 50 (battery) wire shorted out and melted the whole wire from the bottom of the fuse box to the switch. My car had been broken in, nothing stolen, but tried to steal the car. The whole ignition cylinder lock is broken up all over the floor all the way back to the ignition lock. I'm looking for some tests to see what could be wrong at the fuse box to the starter, alternator, coil, and so forth. I have a ignition switch, cylinder, and ignition wiring harness in the mail, and will rekey the new ignition. Pictures on the way, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1477702711.jpg
