Thumbs up 944 FALL Meet & Greet, Mountain Run, Go Karts - ATLANTA GA - Nov. 12-13

Hi everyone,

We invite you to the 2016 Porsche 944 Fall Meet & Greet! This is an annual event, with a big turnout of cars - so you won't want to miss it!

Saturday's meet is basically a big 924/944/968/928 car meet. It is not a car show, there will be no judging, just come out and have a good time. It is a chance for owners and enthusiasts to check out each others cars, socialize over tasty pizza, and it makes for great photos as well. This meet has drawn over 50 944's in the past, and we're hoping to smash that record this year!

Sunday is all about driving. You will enjoy a spirited drive through the twisty scenic mountain roads of north Georgia. We will make a stop for lunch (probably in Dahlonega but possibly elsewhere), and then head over to AMP (Atlanta Motorsports Park) for go-karting. If you haven't driven the kart track at AMP, you'll love it!

Here is what you need to know............

Saturday 11/12, 5pm: 944 Fall Meet & Greet
Address: Perimeter Village, 4745 Ashford Dunwoody Rd, Atlanta, GA 30338

Sunday 11/13, 9:30am: Mountain Run, followed by lunch, then go-karting at AMP
Address: 270 Walmart Way, Dahlonega, GA 30533

More details to come soon. Please post in the comments if you would like to join us, and I will update you with more information as it comes.

Thanks and we'll see you there.

You're in Dawsonville, that's where we'll end up on Sunday!

You have more than a month to get it running.... you have to do it! HAVE to!!!

Let me know if there are any parts you need. I have several 944 parts cars!

All I have is lap belts from a Ford, so some seat belts would be nice but not necessary. ;-) I'm having trouble getting it to run. Starts, but quickly dies. New distributor & rotor showed up today, spark plug wires tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

I've got plenty of seat belts... If you can make it down to Athens some time (and promise to get your car ready for the event lol) then you can have them for free!

Past experience with is mountain run

If you"re considering attending this GA mountain run with Elliott, I can tell you that I attended one of his runs a couple of years ago and had a great time meeting everyone and running with the others on these mountain roads. I recall a couple of cars having mechanical issues yet everyone jumped in to get those cars quickly running again.

Elliott - although we moved back to Florida in the past year, we're a bit far to make the trip this year with our 944. Have a great time and hope you all have a great time.

Thanks Greg! Where in Florida did you move to? Every once in a blue moon I set up 944 events down there, usually around the Orlando area.

I think I have isolated the problem to the computer. I tried to start it after adjusting the speed reference sensor without the ground wire to chassis connected. I saw a warning that this could fry the DME. Would you perhaps have an extra of those? I could bring mine to test in a working 944. I know they made a change in how the AFM works (12V vs 5V) but I don't know what model year they made the swap.

I don't see why leaving the ground wire disconnected would fry the DME, but I suppose anything is possible.

I believe I do have an extra early DME (you said yours is an 83 944 right?)... I'll check tomorrow just to be sure. But like you said we can also test your DME in one of my running cars and see if it works.

That would be awesome. I'd like to eliminate the DME as a potential issue. It will speed up debug.

Well I think I've eliminated everything but the DME.

When can we meet? I'll bring my DME to test in a working car.

PM me. I'm so close to getting this running I can almost taste it above all the gas I've swallowed working on the fuel lines!

My wife and I plan on being there. The car is in the shop now, but is scheduled to be finished in time. Unless we hit an unexpected snag with the car, we'll see you there!
