Just a thought on these cars after reading the article. These will be somewhat collectable cars (for the low mileage, unmolested few that are left) as the 911 reaches 6 figures as an average transaction price in the coming decades. The 924/944 Series of cars are completely underrated as a sports car at this point due to it's low dollar entry point and excellent performance.
The typical enthusiast or lower budget collector is already being priced out of the 911 market, so what's next? The early Boxsters are plagued with IMS exploding motor fears, larger quantity of production numbers and (seemingly) cheap interiors (I had two...been there, done that and they are no longer in my garage). The 944 was still a very well built Porsche with zero cheapness that came when Porsche needed to change their manufacturing processes in the following decade or so. I bet we'll see minty fresh $30k or $40k S2's and 968's going across the Barrett - Jackson carpet in the coming decades. Get yours now... |
