Steering wheel
I need to get a new steering wheel for my car. Mine has broken apart on the left side.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Will I need to get the sleeve seperate? Thanks

The steering wheel on these is nearly the easiest thing to replace on the entire car. Do you have a 3 spoke or 4 Spoke? I'm sure i could find you a used wheel around here, then do what i did, wrap it in leather.
Send me an email if you want interglossa@hotmail.com p.s. is the wheel what is broken or the plasic housing behind it?

Pelican sells the 930S wheel and adapter if you were talking about a new one.
Used, try Ebay.

Stock Steering wheel
I have one in great shape. It is currently still on my car '83 944 but I bought a replacement awhile ago.
BTW, It is the 3 spoke, black- the leather covering needs to be replaced for it to look awsome. Lynn |

How much do you want for it? I am considering going aftermarket as well. What replacement wheel did you get?

I got a grant wheel from autozone, it was like $70 and it matches the rest of the silver pieces on the dash on the early models, it looks and feels good...even though it looks brighter than the other trim in this pic:

I like the added leg clearance an aftermarket wheel provides.

If I was getting one for an early car, I would probably get one of those with the flat bottom; To give maximum leg clearance

Pearldrum, do you happen to know the adaptor kit number for the steering wheel? I got a grant from my other car and since i'm not driving it would probably look good on the 944.

not right now, i think I still have the box, but I can't get to it until Friday, if I still have it I will post the number. Autozone knew which one to give me though...

Grant Steering Wheel Adapter
You can identify the hub adapter for the Grant steering wheel bu going to this site. Each steering wheel has an individual web-age.....go to the bottom of the page, and there's a tool to help you identify the adpater you will need for the particular wheel.
Hope this helps! |
