aluminum control arms
My mechanic say rebuilding aluminum lower control arms on my 1988 N/A 944 is a bad idea. The Haynes manual says basically the same thing about the aluminum ones for all years the book covers.
What's the general opinion? I was in a bind for time so I let him put on brand new ones and naturally it cost me plenty so I am basically pissed. |

I have been using rebuilt ones for 3 years. No problem. My car is the standard height, however.

The rebuilt ones are fine (I think that guy in Texas is the only one who rebuilds them for everyone) - about half the cost and generally come with a warranty (mine came with a 3 yr). Porsche does not warranty the new control arms from anything other than manufacturing defect.
Balljoint failure is considered "owner abuse" or normal wear Cracking or bending of the arms is considered "owner abuse" (see where this is going??) AFJuvat
