I agree w diy doc why ruin a perfectly designed german car.Like corvettes but American engineering still isn't as reliable as a porshe and the only people who complain about porshes are those who don't truely know how to wrench on them.
For instance just replaced stock 944 porshe clutch built in 1983 last month.
@34 years that clutch lasted.
On a daily driver driven hard.
Show me 1American car with a clutch built to last that long.lol

As someone who did an LS swapped 951, your route is the more cost effective one :).

My cousins and brothers have always been die hard muscle car fans., ie chevelle SS's , monte carlo's, 454 vettes, gto's.

First porsche I bought, they felt betrayed, oh well. Porsche's and vette's have there place, and after a while, fixing a 25+ year old car gets to you and you just want a sports car that is reliable and affordable.
