Cam sproket removal

Am in the middle of resealing the front of my early 85 944 engine and cannot remove my camshaft sproket. OK, dumb question but is the sproket held on by a special bolt or is that shaped like a bolt to help turn the camshaft?

How far are you into it? There is a little bolt that holds the shaft on, that the rotor fits to,take that bolt out,use a pair of pliers and real gently pull strait out, then, there is a cheeshead bolt up in this hole the shaft came out of,get the tool and HAVE SOMEBODY HELP YOU OR YOU WILL STRIP THIS BOLT,have your buddy hold the big nut looking thing with the proper wrench very still, then once you get the cheesehead bolt out take a impact and put a socket on the big nut and act like your taking it off,but just hit the impact for a second and the big nut will fall off in your hands.
Good luck
P.S. Be very patient and welcome to Pelican!!

Thanks justin, for the directions! Doing this stuff all my life and sometimes I find that I just can't see straight. My two other toys are a 62 F100, and a 62 VW bug. The more I work on that 944 the more I appreciate the quality car that it is. I tore down to the shaft seals twice before only to chicken out and put it all back together again. With your help, I finally got the job done and am back on the road. No more fluids on the driveway! Thanks again!
