Certificate of Authenticity

Just wanted to know if anyone here has requested this documentation from Porsche... I submitted my application last month and the certificate arrived over the weekend. The good news is that my 84 hasn't been buggered up as she retains the original drivetrain!! I do wish they had information pertaining to the stereo as I really want to replace the POS the PO installed.

Anyway, here it is:

Beware, others have reported less than stellar results with wrong colors and specs.

Porsche has reused codes and sometimes they incorrectly translate them on the CofA. I've seen it multiple times with 968s.

I guess I'm fortunate because they just confirmed what I already knew/researched. Both engine and trans numbers jive as well as all the options (she was built as a low optioned car). The main reason for requesting the COA was to determine which radio came with the car; I believe there were a couple/few models in 84 although I could be dead wrong.

Pfarah FWIW the Monterey AM/FM cassette radio was a $600.00 option in 84.

So, if there is no option code on the rear hatch area decal and no mention of a radio in the certificate, would the car come with no radio? I did pull what appeared to be original speakers from the doors upon purchase 5 yrs ago and all wiring was in place. Did all cars come pre-wired with speakers and possess no radio unit or was there a basic stereo in place? Dunno and a bit confused... Appreciate any clarification.

Thank you. I'm the original owner. I have the original window sticker, bill of sale and the Porsche 944 brochures for 1983. I'm always interested in documentation.

I would think the standard radio code would be listed.

For 968s the standard radio was the CR1, code 331.

The CD2 was optional, code 691 on the early 968s and changed to 694 on the later cars.

692 was the CD changer option, available with the CR1.

There is always a radio code on a 968 vehicle information decal (hatch decal).

If there is no radio code on the hatch sticker my guess is it was a radio delete. I still have the window sticker for my lowly 84 VW Scirroco and the same AM/FM cassette was standard equipment. Seems like Porsche was sticking it to the buyer.

Is the Blaupunkt Aspen one of the original radios? I have one in my 85.5.
