Random loss of boost

Car has been running flawlessly for a while, and pulls like a freight train at 18psi until a few days ago it won't spoil past 10psi. I hear a lot more whistling than I used to before now too that sounds like it's coming from underneath towards the rear of the car.
Any suggestions and pointers as to where I should start looking this weekend is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
Drew

Build yourself a boost leak checker and test for, well, boost leaks.

How could I fashion myself a boost leak tester?

Would a low pressure version -using a cigar to generate smoke- such as pictured work?

If it's a crack that opens under pressure maybe not. If it's a blown-off hose you simply did not notice then yes. However it's easier to just look for stuff like that and check for vacuum at the recirculation valve, vacuum can, etc. than hook up a rig and buy swisher sweets.

I have used both methods, and have found that a smoke machine works fine for vacuum leaks, but, for weird boost leaks, the boost leak checker seems to work better.

The boost leak tester found a split at the bottom of one of the intercooler connection hoses that a smoke tester would not have found, since the split would pretty much seal up when there was no boost to open the split.
