Wiper Motor - Bench Test?

Trying to determine which is not working...the wiper motor, or the wiper switch. The car's an '83, and the wiper motor and switch were replaced about 4 years ago. When they last worked, there was a irrating grinding like noise, that I assumed meant I'd need to lubricate the wiper arms.

Now the wipers will not work in any position. The motor seems to be locked up, I can't turn the knurled drive shaft, either with a pair of plyers or with it attached to the wiper arms.

With a multi-meter, I checked the plug from the firewall to the motor, and found a couple of different pin combinations that are activated by the switch, but after reviewing the wiring diagram, I'm still having a hard time determinining what pins should be active for the different switch positions.

Anyone have a way to bench test the motor, and/or some ideas on the pin combination that should be active for the different switch positions.

Thanks

XJOSHX - can you turn the knurled shaft on your motor? Mine seems to be frozen up.

Todwic - Thanks...but what two terminals would you connect on the motor to the battery? I tried using a test wire from the battery to the red and green connections on the motor...but I didn't get any spritzen sparken...red to positive, green to negative?

Roastin944 - Thanks...If mine is really dead, I'll be contacting you shortly.

Thanks guys

Knurled shaft is attached to a worm gear. Kind of hard to turn; working against the gear design. Turning the motor shaft is the only way these are supposed to work.
