Rubber Spoiler Construction

Has anyone out there cut up a rubber rear spoiler and/or know its construction? I have a replacement I am trying to fit that has a hump in it causing some fitment issues. I want to know if there is a metal spine I can bend, or if homogeneous to heat and stretch. Any info appreciated.

I've never cut one open but the screws do screw into a metal strip inside the spoiler. They can and do get bent when people force them off the hatch.
