Engine runs hot when sitting in traffic

For years, my 944 s2 would get above 1/2 Mark in coolant temp when sitting in traffic. I would turn on the heat to lower the temp. Also, I had a slow coolant leak, about 2 cups every 3-6 months.

One day, my fan would turn off when car was turn off. I changed the auxiliary fan switch which is below the upper coolant hose on driver side. It came out and was a little loose. I fixed the slow leak there and the fan issue. Fan now comes on much earlier. As a result, my car never gets to 1/2 temperature mark.

It is a vw part for $12 and requires a special deep socket 30mm to change. Coolant will come out so have a bucket ready. Or drain some coolant first.
