Porsche CR-1A 964.645.014.AX

Very rare operable CR-1 Porsche head unit produced by Alpine. I have had this unit for many years and only ever hooked it up to test it.

The box says "MODIFIED CR-1A RADIO" and the last two digits of the part number are replaced with AX from what I'm able to ascertain mean that it's been remanufactured (refurbished?). Visibly, I see no difference from the inop CR-1 I removed from one of my previous Porsches.

All speaker, antenna and power connections are in tact. The insulation around them is not. All harnesses are labeled.

I noticed that when I looked up my options codes , which are displayed on a sticker just under the carpet near the license plate.. That there was more than one radio type listed. I think that may mean that to qualify for collectors status it might mean more options.

maybe they put more than one code and gave the buyer a choice, I'm not quite sure how all that works, but it might be worth looking at the codes on your car to see if there is more than one listed, if you care.

Only two radios could have come in a North American 968. CR-1 Cassette Radio and CD-2 CD Radio
Option code 331 for cassette radio
Option code 691 or 694 for CD radio

The CR-1 for the 92/93 model year car had a 964 part number prefix
The CR-1 for the True 94 not 718 94 and 95 cars has a 993 part number prefix
The radios are identical but the harness is slightly different in the years respectively
