FS Apexi AVC-R EBC Electronic Boost Controller

This is the Apexi AVC-R from my turbo. The unit is in good used working condition and includes everything shown in the picture. I had the solenoid valve mounted to the bottom inside of the cruise control motor bracket and it is included as well. This was perfect spot for it because the valve was vibration isolated from the body for noise and it was tucked up out of the way. The control unit does have scratches on the back and sides from sitting inside my center console under the arm rest, but the front face is like new. These units are a bit of a pain to get setup initially but after that they are rock solid and have some really nice features like gear based boost 2 separate boost settings, etc. Asking $250 shipped to the lower 48

How is the unit set up now ?

robm-951 04-30-2011 05:37 PM

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you are asking.

How is the boost set up now on the controller ?
How many PSI ?

robm-951 05-02-2011 08:04 AM

I had one setup at 17 and one at 19, but both boost map setting are fully adjustable. Also, with my wastegate setuo, turning off the apexi would yield a boost of ~12-13 psi which was the wastegate setting.

Either way, you would have to set it up for you car. The AVC-R's "learns" your setup to reach your boost setting ASAP and hold it. The way to teach it is once it is installed, to tell it a boost level you want to run and set an initial duty cycle for the valve, you start out low and do a run. if you set the duty cycle low enough, you should not even hit the boost level you have set. then you increase the duty cycle and make another run. Once you get close the the correct duty cycle that produces the boost level you want, the AVC-R takes over from there and fine tunes the duty cycle throughout the range to maximize boost up to the set level everywhere.

It also can do gear based boost and datalogging.

The AVC-R's are kind of a pain to setup, but they are rock solid at building and holding boost once they are. Once mine was setup, i never had to fiddle with it for temperature or altitude changes. Plus, it builds more boost and quicker boost than a manual controller does in the lower gears since you typically have to set boost with a MBC in a high gear like 4th to set it under load.

Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks,
Rob

That works fine for me

These are excellent units - I have one for my turbo project also. Fully configurable with all kinda of nice features. The display is a little "blingy" but it communicates all the info you need to operate it. Well worth the $$$ IMHO.

The OP posted his price, if you don't like it then counter or don't waste his time, enough of the lowball "what's the lowest you'll take" BS. That's the whole point of requiring sellers to post an asking price. $250 is very fair for this unit...

Thanks.

What is the trick to wiring these ? Apexi don't list 944t wire diagram
I had a new one and sold it after diagram confused me.
My check valve is too hard in low gear, and too low psi in 3rd, 4th

is there a link with some tips ?

Here are the tuning instruction I used.

Also some more good info here

and here

One of the main things most people do wrong is to hook up the RPM input to the AVC-r to the DME pin #1 ignition pulses. This connection is too noisy for the apexi and it won't display RPM's correctly. Instead connect the RPM Input wire on the AVC-R to the DME #21 pin which is the tach output signal. This will provide a clean RPM signal to the AVC-R and allows it to work properly.
