Porsche 944 Turbo Koni Adjustable Strut Assemblies for a Late Car M030
 

I have a set of used front strut assemblies. They came off of a 1989 Turbo. I believe they will fit the late 944 cars but check the fitment.
They are ready to bolt on.

Have you taken them apart to see if they rebound properly?

They have not been taken apart to see if they are good or not. I am sure they are good. I have over 150000 on the one in my car and they were checked by Koni only to be found good. And they do not leak.

Note: These are not gas shock.

Aren't they 88-89 turbo S? If they are they are gas filled. Also it's not the miles as much as the time they are 25 years old

Back when the Porsche 944 Turbo was being sold, I was working on them. All of the 944 street car did not have gas fill shock. Only the Bilstein shocks were gas filled. They were used on the 911 and 928 used them on street cars. The 944 cup cars also used the Bilstein on them.

The Koni shocks have an external adjustment on the top of the piston rod so all the gas would leak out if they were gas filled.

So what you are saying is that the koni m030 and m474 were oil filled and not gas filled therefore they would not rebound?

You are correct. Only oil filled.
The only way to test the shocks would be to put them on a Shock Dyno. Most hi end racecar shop may have one. I sent mine out to Koni to have them tested.

Contact Koni to set up testing of the shocks if you like. If they are bad they will quote you on how much it would cost to make like new.

New struts cost $835 per each. FYI

With all due respect that's the most ignorant statement I have heard on this forum. Look carefully at all M030 and M474 there is a factory stamp on the side that clearly states "Do NOT OPEN GAS FILLED"

Well now I am embarrassed. You are correct. The difference between the two is you shocks show an aftermarket part number and mine show a factory number. But both do show gas filled.

I just look up in the factory manual to see the specs on the struts. One place shows oil filled double tube. And the other place says twin tube gas shock absorber.

You still need a shock dyno to correctly check out the shocks if they are suspect.

Iam sorry if I came out a bit rude, but I just recently purchased a set on eBay from a seller back east, he claimed low miles but when I took the struts apart to clean them up both were shot

How did you determine if they were shot. They are double adjustable.
