Edit: I've never in my life seen a pump like that, with what looks like an integrated machined block off plate. Whats the deal with that? It must come out somehow?

This is an original Porsche early pump that was rebuilt. It is the 2.5L NA version only and not a Turbo one. The later revisions thst for NA and Turbo have the port open and blocked off with the plastic elbow block off plate.

Thanks Dimi, I guess I've never laid eyes on an original N/A pump, I've only ever seen the "updated" pump which as you said, is actually a turbo pump.

It doesn't mean it's a turbo pump, it's just later model. If it's an NA car application, it has the white "blocked off" plastic elbow. If it's a 2.7 or 951, it has the black plastic elbow which passes water thru.
