Trailer Hitch
My 81 Euro has a trailer hitch installed (wired for lights too) - I don't plan on pulling a trailer or anything, but always thought it was a neat addition to the car.

The bolts which would have held the receiver were sheared off long ago.

I'll take it off your hands if you want to sell. Also interested in copying it if you want to keep it.

Rare Option -
While helping to refurbish an early (1979 ?) dash one time I remember seeing a "Trailer" warning light and always wondered if it was a circuit used only on European cars. In Germany they have every kind of vehicle imaginable pulling trailers to extend the utilitarian use of owning a car. I saw an old VW Golf pulling a camper out side Munich one time that out weighed it so badly that on a curve the trailer almost took it into the ditch. Once the driver had it back under control and reasonably pointing in the right direction, he just kept on going like nothing had even happened.
![]() Hey Johnson - the descriptive plate you posted shows this trailer hitch design was for automotive use only with a warning to not pull farm equipment. The max attachment weight is rated at approximately 4k lbs. Yikes - if the bolts were sheared off while pulling a load, hopefully he had a serious set of safety chains installed. I'm sure you have a pretty rare option for the states. Michael

Made one in early 90s for an 81 and towed an. Alfa GT6 from LA to Michigan. No strain. Didn't know it was there.
