86 928s sat for months, crank no fire

Hi: Trying to determine which of the many relays on the panel is for fuel pump. Elsewhere on forum people describe #17 and doing temporary jump from 30 to BOTH 87 pins to see if pump runs. Some post-ers refer to this as "electronic" relay; does that mean it has no moving parts inside? We just obtained this car which was said to have run three months ago but we are doubting that now. It was towed to our house on purchase in JAX FL. The plan is to fix ripped hose coming out of sender and suction screen, then force feed power to pump long enough to see if it works and crank the motor right away. We know not to leave pump pumping without engine vacuum and spark! Just wanting some confirmation here for our plan and guidance on relay identification. Thank you.

The relays are mechanical for the fuel pump. When you turn the key on you should hear it run. Do you have spark? Do you have gas? My car came with a sheet showing relays. One thing I would do is pull all relays and clean contacts on relays and main panel with Deoxit or CRC cleaner. You might even consider replacing the relays as they are not too expensive. I recall, a few are special types but most are the same, type 53?? maybe. Sorry I don't have my relay chart here. Another thing to do is clean all ground points of which there are many. When a car sits that long and this old, you have to go through it.

First thing that I would suspect is bad gas

To test the fuel pump why not apply voltage directly to the pump at the back of the car?

I'd hate to chase a fuel pump circuit problem for too long before first detaining if the tank was empty or gas was old.
