rear hatch upper lock assembly
 

so my rear hatch upper latch piece is cracked - i procured one from an 83 in a junkyard here - i was hoping between the two of them i could cobble a working one together - i was so close - spent the better part of today disassembling both of them only to find the parts i need cannot be swapped between them - mine is an alarm lock (although i don't have an alarm) and the 83 isn't - so i was going to try and rekey the 83 to my key only to find a crack in the 83's actual tumbler cylinder - arrgh - so since the 83 is still sitting out at the yard and it has both door locks on it i'm wondering if a door lock cylinder could be used in the rear hatch assembly? - anybody know offhand? - are the ends of the cylinder the same with just different cam things attached on the end or totally different - anybody have a rear hatch cylinder for an 83 or entire upper hatch assembly they'd like to sell? - or trade for?? - i guess i could try welding the upper piece with that pot metal muggyweld stuff
