Dash Lights

I don't drive the car much at night. But last night I made a long haul to Denver and back to Moab in a day.

At night I could hardly see my instruments. Really dim (is this normal on the early models?). I had replaced some of the little bulbs but there must be more...

Is there an easy way to replace all and ensure I get all of them? Or is it all convoluted, crawling under the dash etc??

The answer is that it is all convoluted.

Take steering wheel off. Take lever module off. Unscrew bolts holding dash unit in place. Carefully pull dash unit toward you and leverage over the sharp steering wheel post without scratching or tearing. Remove instrument cluster. Inspect each light and freshen up contact point with rubbing alcohol. RR as needed. Reverse process.

My mechanic (a Porsche master) changed a bulb just by reaching under the dash on my '84 928.

I don't mean to be rude, but I assume the brightness adjuster is already turned to max.

There were one or two I might have been able to reach, but not the 10 or so that are hidden in there. I would hope yours is a much more modern setup that the 1978. I also had found advice somewhere about my cleaning the copper contact points with alcohol which I also did.
