need to pull ignition key cylinder
I have done the unthinkable. I cannot find the only set of keys to my '79 928i. It has been a month and they are nowhere. Whats worse is the ignition key cylinder and key were replaced, different key than the door so I have no record of it.
I am assuming the easiest thing to do would be to replace all the lock cylinders. Can anyone tell me how to get the ignition cylinder out, and the liftback door cylinder out. I know the doors, I took them out to paint the car a couple years ago. Anyone have all new cylinders and keys from a parts car they want to sell? thanks, |
The lock is held in with a roll pin that has to be drilled out to remove.
You will have to remove the instrument cluster to get at it. AFJuvat |
If all the locks work, remove them all and get a locksmith with 928 experience to change all of them to suit one key. New locks are expensive.

Donzi..I have a good ignition cylinder with a matched key only if you are interested. $30.00 shipped to you priority. just pm me or email me
((david928s@msn.com)) ..need to remove the cluster to access the roll pin, needs to be drilled out. ..the back hatch cylinder in the rear hatch comes out by unbolting it from behind the rear tool panel. i think it is 2 10mm or 8mm, its been a while. |
