928 new owner need help
 

Hey guys i just bought a 1980 porsche 928. First off its the eruo modle shes a gray market car. I am looking to spiff her up a bit. Does anyone know of any front x-braces besides the one that 928gt.com offers. Also i just ordered the nology wires and ngk plugs. Does anyone have a opinion on them. Also what are some good upgrades from the boot here is what iv done so far

ngk plugs
kn air filter
new filter ( oil and tranny ) as well as did a full fluid flush and refill

Actually I had my 78 U.S. 5 speed for 13 yrs. spent about 11K maintaining it . Plus the car depreciated 4K.

Suspension would be the 1st place to stick your money. Front Sway bar and Shocks. You already have great brakes If your car is a Euro "S". If not there is now a kit to upgrade to S4 fronts.
Euro "S" made 300 hp probably enough for most people. non "S" still makes good power.
Going to an electric fan frees up some HP.

What are you going to do with the car? Autocross or just drive it?

Hmm Over the years our car could have had appearance up grades. But front air dam with cooling ducts for brakes. Rear spoiler (black rubber wrap around)
Brakes ar bigger but you don't know what to judge against. Then the motor has a serial number on it M something (I think M21) on the web stretching across the two heads in front Just behind the distributor. Go to 928gt.com and there is a reference section.

the vin is 92ad800334 can you tell me if its an s or not is there anyway somone can tell me based on vin number

From the info that I have, that VIN would indicate a non "S" Ero spec car.

ok, now here one more question i have seen alot of older porsches where the carpet comes loose ect. anyway the factory floow mat has those two button clips on them and they are shot i just ordered new floor mats. Will those replace basically the carpet where your feet go?

The commonly available floor mats that you see (Lloyd's) are meant to lay on top of the factory section. I'm not sure if you can get the factory florr carpet sections without purchasing a whole kit or not.

I too had an 80 a Las Vegas car.Very important all the rubber hoses carrying fuel are supple and snugly connected. the rubber hardens, and they leak and break.
Obviously the timing belt is a life limited part if you dont have records, I would replace it.
I have an 89 S4, I drive it every day, it is the best wine country touring car.
