Clutch noise

Hey everyone. I've got an 88 928, 5 speed with about 82K on it. I bought the car about five years ago and ever since I bought it there is a noise that comes from the car when the clutch is disengaged and the car is in neutral. It's not loud by any stretch and it goes away when the car is put in gear and the clutch is let out slightly. The clutch grabs well with no slipping. Is this a common thing with the 928?

I was toying with the idea of selling the car this spring. Any idea what it's worth?

The noise sounds like the throw out bearing from your description.

I've no idea of current values for S4s, but being a 5 spd is worth a premium over the autos on the later models. Watching eBay for a couple weeks will give you an idea of price ranges (though at the low end).
