Found a replacement for my 190k mile s4, have some requests for suggestions/advice
I have agreed to purchase a black s4 to replace my current, high mileage s4. I will go Friday to pick it up if it checks out as advertised.
I will take it to get a top-notch tint job, probably 15% on sides, limo on hatch or 15%. I want to get an RMB. Stainless or ? From where should I get it? Devek? or ?? It has stock wheels, manhole covers I think, and I don't care for them. I don't want to spend a fortune on wheels/tires, but I want to upgrade and get some fatter tires. Should I: 1. Go for the black out look and get something all black or black with polished lip? Something comparable to Chuck Z's or ? 2. Go for something chrome or polished? It's been suggested to me to go for the 993 wheels that are on 94-95 GTS. 3. Take the 16" GT d90's off my current s4 and have them cleaned up and polished or chromed or blacked? 4. There seems to be a bunch of Porsche wheel sets on EBay. Does anyone see any good deals on something? 5. ?? What should I look for as far as wheel size and tire size? 17's, 18's, x9 x10, what? How do I know which wheels will fit as is and which will need spacers or fender roll? Any other sensible and economical upgrade suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I think that all of the RMBs on the market are stainless now, I believe 928 specialist has both a double outlet and a single oval outlet version.
Keep in mind that the RMB will increase noise. Personally I'm not a fan of the blacked-out wheel look on 928s, I think the black ones look the best with polished wheels, but even stock silver painted/anodized are better than blacked-out. That's just my taste. The 928 wheels have a unique offset, most of the eBay ones I've seen aren't a proper fit unless they are from a 928. A reasonably priced way to go would be to get some new reproduction wheels; I forget the companies name but the are made in Italy, so the quality should be fine for anything short of track use-and maybe even then. These come in 17", maybe larger. Take a look over at www.928gt.com for the RMB and the wheels plus some tech stuff too. |
