Lo mileage grn/grn 78 may stir up some bids
Nice looking OB on Ebay, Green/Green 42k miles, I predict a few bids ...
Carfax might be interesting, last Cal smog tests were in 2000, but smog report from dmv doesn't show mileage. More than one person, WANTS, this 928. Final price will reflect wallets and desires.
![]() Could be a trend too, its almost always the first years that turn out to be truly collectible.

Wow! $10K+! I didn't think it would go that high. Kind of discouraging for a 928 hopeful like myself. I've always loved them and have enjoyed watching the prices drop a bit to maybe put one in reach. I don't want them to start getting expensive yet...gotta hold out 'till next year at least!
Anway...congrats to the new owner...whoever they are! Wish I was ready to make a move. God bless, -BunnMan

Plenty of great deals out there, not so many green/green OBs. For most people a nice condition 140k 32v for $5k or so just takes some looking to find, and might be a better first car.
The person buying this OB could easily see the $10k, as just getting started on the full restore. Three weeks ago I met a guy who just bought an 86 5 spd for $5k out of the AutoTrader locally. I'd seen the ad myself, and for whatever reason didn't pursue it, but the car turned out to be very nicely kept up, and needed just a couple minor things to be a daily driver.

Hoping to find a '87 or newer 5spd S4 when I'me ready to dive. A frined of mine had a 928 when we were kids (he was the rich kid). I loved that car and asked what his dad paid for it...then figured, "I'll never own one of those!"
I've been poking around and doing some reading and haven't found that many color combos I like. Exterior I like the black, blue, and steel gray looking color whatever that's called. I gotta have dark interior though. I can't believe all the cars I've seen for sale with white or tan interior, gotta be a nightmare to keep 'em clean! God bless, -BunnMan

87+ 5 spd is on MANY peoples want list, and except for higher mileage cars $15k or more will be typical cost. Below $10k and its a fairly hot deal. Depending on condition and price its a car that can sell instantly to the first person that finds it. I own two 928's right now, and despite the hell I would catch on the home front, the right 87+ 5 spd would have me writing a check or making a deposit over the phone. Car and price have not coincided for me yet, which is why I have an 83 and a 84.
![]() Black cars and Black interiors are too hot in the sunshine states, my first choice is a white car, but I am flexible about the interior my wife has ivory/creme leather seats in her car, and its not any cleaning issue at all. Which OTOH doesn't mean its pristine, but nothing that catches my eye. Besides leather seats will require regular attention anyway, might as well keep them clean too. Dark blue and burgundy work for me as well, no opinion on tan, green is what seems weird really to me.
