'85 red/tan, full leather, 60K, clean Carfax, $8500 obo!

Seller seems desperate with a mint condition '85 S 32 valve in red with what I would assume is a full tan leather interior. I have a clean Carfax I just ran on the car. My Carfax membership ran out, so I had to sign up for an additional 30 day unlimited package, at their new upgraded price of $29.99, vs. the $24.99 it's been forever. I did this for you guys, since I won't personally need a Carfax ran for myself quite some time now. Not lookin' for sympathy, just helpin' out my new friends, that's all. So, if anyone needs a Carfax ran in the next 30 days, just e-mail me the VIN # to partysover@sbcglobal.net and I'll shoot it back to ya'.

Anyway, back to the car. He's desperately asking $8500 obo for a very nice color combo and great looking car too! Yes, it's a damn automatic, but $8500 is still a pretty good price or such a pristine looking example of an S. So, all you S guys, take a look!

7/2 I started my first 30 day on carfax, and its going to be a hard thing to give up when it runs out, just too much fun running all the VIN's, each one seems to have its own story.

This one only has two entries with mileage reported, 101 when its new in 85, and 58k in 2002, and now not on the carfax, but listed as 61k. 3k in 5 years isn't a great sign, but at least the car seems to have spent its whole life in same IL area, not like a lot of cars that have been to a handful of dealer auctions.

Just my two cents, and so its not some negative thing, this one is high miles, but looks like it could go cheap, cheap enough I wonder if the dealer isn't going to pull it at the last minute for a "local" sale.
87 146k AT gray/black bid at $4800.

OTOH carfax shows 12/03/2002 146,878, with essentially nothing since. No real ownership type driving in 5 years and the new owner can look forward to months of one problem after another showing up. Still, is going to be a cheap PSO, Porsche Shaped Object.

That's a great deal! Any post '87 928 in that condition is worth twice that much in parts! Buy it, drive it occasionally between repairs, and then once you've had enough of pulling your hair out over the constant repairs, part her out and get your repair monies back. It's a win, win situation!

Unfortunately though, it's not Zermatt Silver as misadvertised. I'm sure he's just misinformed because nothing can be gained by that misrepresentation, but damn, if it actually was Zermatt Silver, I'd be bidding on it! That's my personal favorite colored 928, like this one of ole Mikeys!

Speaking of Willhoit, I see the '93 red/tan GTS he just bought and sold a couple of months ago is for sale again by the new owner.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=225290669&dealer_id=60504033&car_year=1993&marketZipError=false&search_type=both&num_records=25&keywordsfyc=&make=POR&model=928&transmission=&distance=0&address=46236&make2=&default_sort=priceDESC&advanced=y&certified=&max_mileage=45000&max_price=&sort_type=priceDESC&min_price=&body_code=0&end_year=1993&keywordsrep=&color=&start_year=1993&drive=&search_lang=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&engine=&fuel=&doors=&style_flag=1&cardist=730

How much did Willhoit pay for the car when he bought it? Are you sitting down? $18,000! And yes, that's USD!

Good ole Mikey know's a deal when he see's one! He's not very well liked on Rennlist either...................

Willhoit must have an insanely good restoration shop. I wonder if he will ever open it up for cars he isn't selling?

Porsche has so many colors I really like, all these red and black cars drive me nuts. Black I can see if its a thing you are into, especially if you want a night time car, dinner etc., but its too hot in the day. Red is my least favorite color, disliked about as much as the guy in the movie "used cars".

My 83 is Zinc metallic, I'm not sure I know Zermatt by eye, it isn't what I might think of as Platinum is it?

The old 924 color of copper metallic is my wife's favorite, and its one of maybe half a dozen I don't have a strong preference of one over another as my favorite. My practical pick is Grand Prix white, easy to color match so its actually possible to keep it painted and perfect looking.

No, platinum metallic is different than Zermatt, though I had an '84 in platinum with platinum anodized wheels I just loved! I'm into the silvers as well!

Speaking of silver, that '93 Zermatt silver with the light grey/classic grey combo interior with a few small paint issues is still for sale as far as I know. Hell, he'd probably take $18K now just to get rid of it if you know of anyone interested in a very well documented, some small paint issues (courtesy of Porsche) GTS.

Oh, 78,000 miles and an automatic. Sorry!

I think I still have all the pics if you want to take a little looksee!

Here it is: http://www.928registry.org/1993-928GTS-early-5089.htm

Its been at this dealer a LONG time, but its in Covina Calif, which used to have the best Porsche dealer I ever found, Bozzani. They dropped Porsche back in the late 80's for Subaru or something, and the area is sort of depressed. Not prime Porsche selling area. I think the dealer just wants it GONE and off the lot, but without an inspection its hard to say its a good value. I will also be surprised if it sells cheap and isn't pulled off auction at the last second.

Sunroof, AT, its just not on my radar, or I would have driven over to the dealer this morning to look it over and make an offer. After this one selling so cheap most likely the value of all 87+ 928's drop anyway, so easy to find another.
