Door locks well explained with pictures?

The door locks can't be all that complicated, but I haven't found anything yet that makes me understand exactly what is going on between the Key lock, lock motor, and wiring and how it all interacts mechanically and electrically.

I "do" have a rough understanding, pulses, pin switches in the doors, etc., The basics have been explained to me, and I have read various sections of the workshop manuals.

What I want to find are some pictures of the actual mechanisms opened up so I can see what is going on. Anything like that exist, or should I just open one up and take some picts myself?

Did you ever get a good answer offline for this? I was tearing into the driver's door last night and think i am starting to understand how all those pieces interact, my problem is I have a bad exterior door handle (or something bent inside). My lock cylinder was broken as well. I decided to disable the "central locking system".helped that one motor was shot....i never really understood the great benefit of it, and it sure adds a lot of complication to the overall system

I'm trying to figure out how to extract the exterior handle...the workshop manual is not very helpful here. I have the lock cylinder out but everything else is buried up in that corner of the door where you need tiny hands to access it

Not yet, when I get into mine on the parts car I plan to take pictures etc.

Good modern keyless entry and alarm is nice to have, but what Porsche has is not quite there.

Somebody is bound to post on removing the door handle. Its removed for painting isn't it?

you might try PET for an exploded view of the locking mechanism.

also make sure that the latch is tight in the door, I found mine work alot better since I tightened everything up-----

i blew up the PET image until i can see the line details, but guess I'm going to just have to plunge in there and start unscrewing things!

well i got the lock and handle apart...(first i had to get the window working). Except for 1 nut that i still don't know how i will get threaded back on, it's fairly straightforward.

Turns out the hinge was broken, not the handle itself..i'm starting to wonder if someone tried to break into this car at some point in it's life.
