Replacement Dash -

Thanks for all the advice on the dash - It really has helped with my recently purchased 928. I may have to wait to have the dash repaired correctly for the long term. I really do like the car but the repairs are a bit scary.......ha

The pod portion of my instrument panel is in good condition but the dash has been damaged extensively by the sun. My car has too many other issues to put $1,000 into a new dash. Has anyone tried the $91.00 replacement dash advertised by bob@vehicle-interior-parts.com in Phoenix Arizona ? The ebay comments section on the product are positive.

On Ebay it is advertised as : 78 - 89 Porsche 928 NEW Dash Pad Cap
Item number: 160145445075

The only hesitation I have is that each time I have asked "How is the Dash attached" I am told that "the replacement dash covers the old dash and is easy to install". Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Karen

Its a problem for almost everybody. Here is a link to a thread from a couple weeks ago.

The "overlays" or "dask caps" are available from many sources, and I assume in different levels of quality. For best results it sounds like you need to cut off any edges that poke up, and use adhesive to stick the cover to the old dash surface or it wrinkles up quickly.

It sounds like this is one of the plastic overlay caps. They never really look right. If you glue every square inch of it you will have better results. I have a custom fit leather dash cover that you can buy for less than a couple hundred dollars. Its brand new and the reciept is still with it. Its made by Jager Engineering. Heres a pic of one installed

Fabio421...that leather cap looks like a good idea for also keeping a already good looking dash pristine. I've bought from Jager before...quality stuff.
