Stupid Question: The front grilll...
 

Does anyone have some sort of close up picture of their front grill? I bought all new parts last month and I went to install them tonight [pain in the ass, as usual-], and I cannot figure out where the lowest horizontal part goes. Does it rest on top of the spoiler on the pre-'87 cars?

For what it is worth:

If you ever have to deal with this situation...the front grill is best put together on the workbench and THEN inserted into the radiator opening. Initially I tried to "build" it in the opening by installing the verticalls and then attaching the horizontals. It doesn't work!

Yes, I got it from 928 International, along with the two side verticals. I bought two horizontals from 928 Specialists, but the third from 928Intl, since I initially figured I could fix one of my original horizontals. It was too badly broken, and I needed another part anyway so I bought the third horizontal from the folks in LA. Funny- the used part they sold me was aluminum, whereas the newer horizontals [and my original horizontals] from 928SP were plastic. I guess there was a running change at some point in Porsche's production.

Weight control at Porsche? The plastic part weighs 165 grams. The aluminum part? 285 grams! Holy pork chops Batman!

-For what it is worth: BE CAREFUL with the vertical members you buy. The plastic used on these is of questionable quality. I was just barely bending one of the verticals when it broke in my hand! It is VERY brittle. It fixed just fine with JB Weld, and the other one just fell in place, but word to the wise....don't bend 'em!

Glad you described this, Normy. I think I'll try to fabricate my own parts.

The one from 928 Int is not so good quality wise - Marks words not mine.
If we could find an original that would be good and maybe come up with a more robust alternative.
