Rear Defrost Drained Battery
On my way to work I had to use the rear defroster. Once I got to work and cut the car off, I noticed that the defroster button was still on. I tried pushing the button again and even pulled out the owner's guide to find out that there is a 15 min auto shutoff (although I thought the defroster would cut off once the car is cut off). Needless to say nothing worked because when I checked on the car at lunch the battery was drained.
Any thoughts? |

That's what I thought... that it would cut-off on shutdown. But it didnt. It only shut off after draining the battery.
Is there a way to check if the switch is bad, or if there is something wrong with the wiring? |

Take it out and see if the 87 & 30 contacts on the relay are shorted... if yes its stuck.
You can open it up and inspect the contacts and see if you can break them apart and clean them (I recommend a piece of card for contact cleaning...) A switch fault is not capable of causing this effect. Alan
