Split Second MAF conversion

Just thinking this forum is the place to find out about MAF conversions.

This is the link from the rennlist I started yesterday. I love the idea and there is no doubt there would have to be a HP gain. But the cost is almost 1/4 to a supercharger. They quoted me $755.00 and I know everything is high for a 928 but WOW!!!

Herr kuhn would be the expert on the subject.

You really won't see a HP gain. If so it will be very little. The gain is in the ability to tune your fueling. You also gain a little efficiency due to the elimination of the AFM, but don't expect to feel more power. You may feel that you have better throttle response though.

Fuel tuning can be done with an SMT-6 too for 1/2 that price.

Did you ever find out what was included in that price?

That sound high for that .

NO they have not touched base with me today. There has to be some performance gain to the air puching the barn door open compaired to a open through flow sensor without a flap for a restriction.

The real reason you put the MAF in place of the AFM is to gain in transient response. The car just takes on a more crisp throttle response with the MAF sensor. The MAF response is an order of magnitude faster than the AFM...because there are no moving parts. The PSC1-009 should be about $350.00 and a proper MAF about $200.

If you go PSC1-009...make sure to tell Mark you want the ability to adjust the altitide compensation. I have the first unit with that ability...the originals way over compensated for altitude and the car would simply not run at above 4500 ft...too rich. I was supposed to install that thing a long time ago, but have not done it yet. Mine has the ability to remove and replace resistors on the altitude compensation circuit. I have always said I don't think the unit needs any, or very little at best. Mark and I disagreed on this, but Mark agreed to let me test different compensation circuits on the altitude side...the unit has been sitting in my drawer for 18 months now.
