Fastest NA 928?
Who has the fastest naturally aspirated 928?
Fastest NA track car? |
Would have to be one of the strokers.
Even a GTS with exhaust and chips can't touch a stroker. Track car could be a different story as HP is no thte only key to be fast on the track. |
My 4.7L US ran a 13.67 in the 1/4 mile, that's solid GTS time.
|
Mark Anderson, of course. No contest, best as I can tell.

Here are a few.

I was pretty sure Mark has the fastest one on the track, within a class etc., but I was wondering about other cars like Louis Ott's and if anything NA is faster than it?
|
If it's not a track car, how would you know who was the fastest? Define "fastest".

Open road racing?
|
Still racing with different catagories.

and fastest top speed or off the line |
Fastest was the wrong word, I should have said who has some of the most powerful NA 928 motors and how fast in all senses are they. Off the line I see as more a tires and suspension thing, and one that the 928 doesn't do all the well period, so maybe my focus is post 60' performance or rolling start.

Professor Ott...........;) --Russ |
actually Don Hanson's was a tad bit more powerful than Louie's. But not by much... and Don's is a dedicated purpose built track car.... I think Louie's is built for street/track....
|
Sterling...Do you have any more results on your build? You were already around 450 HP, right?
|
John,
I never did redyno it after the headers and new exhaust.... it needed quite a bit more fuel high up, and it still pulls like a freight train down low.... before the new exhaust it was 424 torque and 408 HP at the ground.... peak torque was @ 2800 rpm and over 400 ft lbs from 1800 to 5K.... so it was pretty flat. the variocam is doing its job.... but I'm not happy with the results... so look forward to version II soon..... |
wonder if Kelly/Moss's 944/928 combination would qualify........?

Wide powerband is what it's all about. 400 ft-lbs across that powerband width is good...now imagine if you added 14 psig on that engine!
Manbearpig would approve. |
